Jenn McKinlay Biography & Career
Jenn McKinlay was born in Connecticut, U.S.A and in early childhood, she loves to decorate objects by pasting colored papers. She completed her studies at Southern Conn State University in Library Science and English Literature.
While pursuing college, she did the part-time job in Toad’s Palace (bar) and later on, picked the full-time job as a Librarian in Cromwell. But, she was not happy with her job as she was unable to manage time for writing. So, she packed up everything, left the city, and reached Arizona.
Jenn started her writing career with a romantic novel and she learned many things, such as plotting, and character framework. But, writing a novel didn’t go well and she started to do a part-time job and a few days later, she fell in love with a musician (Chris) and later on married him and became a mother of a boy.
Things changed in Jenn’s life when she got a call from Harlequin and signed a contract for romantic novels. But, the same things happened just like in the past and she decided to quit writing romantic novels.
Jenn was wondering to choose the right genre so that the readers get more enjoyment and thus she chose the murder-mystery genre. Her first novel based on the murder-mystery novel was Cupcake mystery and this was a life-changing event for her.
Jenn tasted the flavor of success because two of her novels were listed on New York Times Best Selling List. Later on, she wrote many novel series, and each one of them was highly applauded by the readers.
One day, Jenn discussed it with her editor and she told Jenn to start writing romance novels. She gave a month to write 450 pages and the work of Jenn was appreciated by her editor. Since then Jenn started to write romantic novels too and the famous one is The Christmas Keeper.
In 2017, Jenn received the RT Book Review Award for her work on Barking Up The Wrong Tree Novel.

I’ve so enjoyed your books and series. I’ll be saddened after I read the last book of the Cupcake series. I really love the characters. I too live in Arizona, Scottsdale isn’t that far from me. So, it was a thrill for me to know of the different sites mentioned in the books.

I was able to purchase the full set of the cup cake series mysteries. What a joy to read! Each was a mystery with some smiles and laughs mixed in. I feel as though I know the characters quite well, and now that I have completed the thirteen books I will miss the Fairytale Mystery gang.
