Early Life of Brandon Sanderson

Brandon was born on 19th December 1975 and brought up in Lincoln, Nebraska

Brandon loved reading books since childhood. But he did not like the recommended books that were suggested by their dear once in his childhood. So, he left reading altogether. Later on, one of his teachers recommended a book called Dragonsbane. He loved it and became an avid reader of high fantasy fiction. 

He went to Brigham Young University to take his graduation degree. While he was doing graduation, he took a break and went to missionary services for a church in South Korea. Further, Brandon went to Brigham Young University for his biochemistry major in 1994. 

He got married to Emily Bushman in 2006 and was blessed with three children. Brandon is 46 years old now and living in the United States with his wife and children. He is still playing with his creative mind to write more fantasy and science fiction books.

Writing Journey of Brandon Sanderson

While living in South Korea, Brandon realized that he did not miss biochemistry but missed reading and writing. To pursue his dream of becoming a writer, he joined an English major after coming back to the university. He joined a night clerical job at the hotel. What he loved about his job was that he gets to write more in his free time which improved him as a writer. 

After graduating in English literature and pursuing his master’s in creative writing at BYU in 2004. He was editor in chief in Leading Edge, a fictional magazine published by the university. He wrote nearly 12 novels while studying. In 2005 one of his novels Elantris got published. Soon after that in 2006, one more of his novels Mistborn: The Final Empire got published and was one of the bestsellers.

The novel revolves around a few characters like Kaladin, Shallan Davar, Szeth-son-son-Vallano, Dalinar Kholin, and Adolin Kholin. Szeth is a man who is always declared unfit by his masters and is all set to kill the king of the most powerful nation, Alethkar. To reach his goals, he keeps changing his ways and hands mostly to hide the fact that he has a mythical blade, Honorblade, and is known to cut any material. Along with this blade, he also said to possess the powers that are no longer available to normal human beings making him unbeatable in any battle.

Mistborn: The Final Empire

Skaa is ruled by a ruthless leader Lord Ruler, the “Sliver of Infinity,”. People of Skaa are fearful and in misery for nearly thousands of years. The Lord Ruler is fearlessly terror, powerful, and invincible. When all hopes are lost, Kelsier, a half-Skaa rediscovered himself after spending days in Lord Ruler’s jail. A brilliant thief and natural leader found himself the power of Mistborn and decided to take down the ruthless ruler.

He recruited the underworld’s best elite, and a ragged half-Skaa girl, Vin to work out his plan. Vin who lived harsher life than Kelsier has trust issues. But Kelsier is on her side, soon going to discover her hidden power.

The Well of Ascension 

The second novel from the Mistborn novel series, The Well of Ascension takes us on the further journey of Kelsier’s army after defeating the Lord Ruler.

After a dreadful war, the impossible has happened and the self-proclaimed invincible Lord Ruler has vanished. The army is also mourning over the death of their leader, Kelsier and all eyes are on his young assistant, Vin. 

Vin is now regarded by respect and worried because of the strange behavior of mists after Lord Ruler’s dismissal. As the empire doesn’t function itself, she and the rest of the army cannot take a backseat. They need to learn some new skillsets of practical and political practices. But ruling them won’t be easy for them.

Oathbringer

It is the third novel from the Stromlight Archive series. The plot of the novel is structured by keeping Dalinar Kholin as the main focus.

Dalinar Kholin’s army won the war against the enemy Parshendi at a very terrible cost. In return, Parshendi summoned violent Everstrom that would destroy everything. While informing his family about the storm, Kaladin learns that his anger of Parshendi may be justified

While investigating the wonders of the ancient stronghold of the Knights Radiant in the mountains high above the storm, Shallan Davar finds the dark secrets. Dalinar realizes his mission to unite his homeland is difficult unless his nation of Roshar accepts him with his blood-soaking past.

Rhythm of War

The latest book from the series Stromlight Archive, Rhythm of War is another gem by Brandon Sanderson

Dalinar Kholin and his Knights Radiant fought a brutal war to protect against enemy invasion with the constant fear of betrayal by Dalinar’s ally.
