Joe Pickett is working as a game warden in Twelve Sleep, Wyoming. The town is known for hunting, and Joe is disliked by everyone around them because of his honesty. Not bothered by their surroundings, Joe continued on his way until he found one of his local hunting outfitters dead in his backyard.
With the unhappiness with the police investigations, he decided to investigate himself. While investigating, he finds rare, near-to-extinct species in his backyard at the spot of the murder. But he cannot reveal it to others as it will endanger it further. Following it starts the adventurous journey of investigations and protection of the species and its loved ones.
Savage Runs

The Vicious Circle

In the past, Joe had a nasty fight with the Cates family- a bad lot of the town. He fought with them to protect his daughter’s life. After battling them for good, Joe always worries about the day when Cates will take revenge. He is sure that they will come after him after finding the suspicious figures wandering around his house in the dark.
With his friend Nate by his side, he prepares himself and waits for their first move.
The Disappeared
The 14th book in the Joe Pickett novel series, The Disappeared, is an intriguing novel and electrifying #1 New York Times bestseller from C. J. Box.
Obviously, Joe Pickett is not a people pleaser, but he surely helps in some nerve-crackling investigations. This time he helps in two of them—one being assigned by the town’s governor. The job is to find a female British executive who was lost in ranches, and the British embassy is demanding action.
At the same time, Joe’s friend approached him for help in problems arising while hunting the falcons. Joe’s job is to solve both cases carefully. His investigations only led him to the connection between two cases and how dangerous that is.
Wolf Pack
This is the 19th book in this series where the plot revolves around Joe Pickett, a game warden who lives in the Twelve Sleep, Wyoming. After getting his job back, Joe finds that a drone is killing the wildlife in his area. On further investigations, a drone belongs to a wealthy man who is the father of Joe’s boyfriend.
When he tried to put some rules, the FBI and DOJ asked him to back out, making him even more suspicious. At the same time, four vicious killers known as Wolf Pack are killing many people in the district. As Joe tries to intervene, all the people associated with him are in danger. He teams up with female wardens to investigate further.
